Last Wednesday, the Bank of Canadaannouncedit was keeping its interest rates steady at one percent.
The Canadian central bank's staying with the status quo was expected, as they have not changed the rate since 2010.
Even with the rate change being kept the same other statements caused a massive move in the USD/CAD forex pair.
What is Forex TIP:Forex, also known as FX and Foreign Exchange, is buying one currency in exchange for another. For example, if you travel from the U.S. to Canada you might go to the foreign exchange booth at the airport and provide them U.S. dollars. They'll then provide you the equivalent value at that time in Canadian dollars.

But as highlighted earlier Whitecap's Canadian light sweet crude is not as heavily discounted as Canadian heavy oil or bitumen. This does not leave it exposed to the same price risks and volatility as those companies that have a significant portion of their production made up by Canadian heavy oil and Bitumen, such as Husky Energy (HUSKF.PK), Suncor (SU), Imperial Oil (IMO) and Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ).

For Imperial Oil (IMO), it good to have friends in high places. In this case, wee talking about Exxon (XOM) 70% stake in the Canadian integrated oil firm. That relationship has provided plenty of capital and technological know-how to produce plenty of crude oil and natural gas via conventional and unconventional means.

Getty Images About 20 years ago, a company now owned by Monsanto (MON) introduced the Flavr Savr tomato -- the first genetically modified organism approved for consumption in the United States. Since then, farmers across the country have been using more and more GMOs every year. It's a practice that has come under increasingly intense scrutiny. Activists who are worried about the potential for human health problems, as well as environmental damage, have started demanding that food containing GMOs be labeled as such. Prop 37, a California ballot measure to mandate GMO labeling, failed at the polls in 2012, and a similar measure lost last month in Washington state. In both campaigns, the largest makers of GMOs -- Monsanto, DuPont (DD), and Dow Chemical (DOW) -- provided the ad funding that helped turn the tide. But what many people don't realize is that they've been consuming products with GMO ingredients for years. The Institute for Responsible Technology has a brochure breaking down GMO presence in many different types of foods. Here are 10 of the most popular foods that likely contain GMOs. Pre-made soups can contain a large number of ingredients containing GMOs. For instance, Campbell's (CPB) popular condensed Tomato Soup lists high fructose corn syrup as its second biggest ingredient. According to the Non-GMO Project, nearly 88 percent of all corn planted in the United States is GMO.

A number of companies are currently building demonstration or small-scale commercial cellulosic ethanol facilities. These companies include DuPont (NYSE: DD), Abengoa (NASDAQ: ABGB), and privately-owned POET. These projects have faced delays and cost overruns, and could have a tough time in a market that presently has idle capacity for the production of lower-cost corn ethanol.
