Unlike in other recent initial public offerings such as Facebook, where some early investors sold shares right away and officers could start dumping in just three months after the deal, Twitter insiders will need to hold on for a longer period of time.
Some rank-and-file employees can sell 9.9 million shares starting Feb. 15, 2014, to cover income tax expenses from vesting shares. But that's just 1% of the company's shares outstanding. More important, executives, directors and owners of large chunks of Twitter stock have agreed to not sell their shares for at least 181 days after the IPO. That means these shares are locked up for sale until May 6, 2014, saving early investors from this avalanche of supply of stock. The 181-day lockup is a relief to investors, since the release of shares for sale can apply significant pressure on a fledgling stock.

Atlantic, why can't you be more like Exelon?
Atlantic wasn't the only utility to dice up its dividend this past quarter. Exelon (NYSE: EXC ) announced on Feb. 7 that it would slash its dividend by a whopping 40%. But unlike Atlantic, Exelon's stock has risen 12% since its earnings report. That's 4.5 percentage points above the Dow Jones U.S. Utilities Price Index and more than nine percentage points better than the S&P 500'sreturn. - [By Sean Williams]
This week's winner
This was a really odd week, with very few big moves and things generally quiet from a news perspective. The top performer this week was electric utility Exelon (NYSE: EXC ) , which jumped 2.8% despite no company-specific news. I would postulate Exelon shares advanced on the high hopes of investors who expect the warm summer months to push energy demand higher. Exelon still needs to find a way to contend with the high costs of its nuclear energy portfolio, but summertime tends to be a bread-and-butter time of year for most electric utilities. - [By Alex Planes]
Today, 435 nuclear reactors operate around the world, and another 67 are under construction. The majority of nuclear energy is generated in just three countries: the U.S., Japan, and France. France's EDF is the world's largest producer of nuclear energy -- or, indeed, any type of energy -- followed by Exelon (NYSE: EXC ) in the U.S. and TEPCO in Japan. TEPCO's Fukushima plant provided the world with a more recent example of the potential dangers of nuclear power in the aftermath of a devastating 2011 earthquake. This, however, can't be blamed on human error -- though it may have worse long-term effects on the growth of nuclear power than Chernobyl.
