From the Editor: In yesterday's members-only message, you got a rare look at Kent's track record and why he averages 55% on every recommendation. Today, Kent recommends a short-term move, based on the latest developments in Syria...
Damascus may have dodged a bullet (or a cruise missile), but nothing else has changed very much. Not in terms of risk.
That explains why the "Syrian Premium" remains. It may be slightly reduced, as you'll see. But it is likely to stay with us even after the threat of a military solution has been averted.
At least for now...
But in addition to the ongoing uncertainty, there are other aspects of market pricing that are coming into focus. These pressures were building even before the latest round of Syrian intrigue.
They involve the traditional factors of supply and demand, with some regional wrinkles thrown in for good measure.
I will have more to say shortly about the best way you can profit from these opportunities. But for the moment, there's one move to make in the immediate aftermath of the latest Syrian developments.

Losing control of the Cablevision (CVC) spinoff will ultimately be better for the Dolans than if they try to go it alone.
This scenario likely a long shot, but I think it makes a lot of sense.

Its doubtful that federal antitrust regulators would ever allow Comcast (CMCSA) to buy the company because some might argue it would restrict competition. The company might be able to acquire Cablevision (CVC) if the Dolan family, which controls the smaller cable company, would sell. But that seems unlikely.

The cable-television M&A chatter is making its rounds again, this time with Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR), Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE:TWC), and Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) pegged as the three points of the ever-changing parties of a never-ending love triangle. The buzz is, well, was that CHTR was first in line to nab TWC. Today, however, it's starting to look like CMCSA is more seriously interested in Time Warner Cable than first thought. TWC shares jumped on the doubly-good news that it may well become the prize in a bidding war between Charter Communications and Comcast Corporation. Meanwhile, CMCSA shares have jumped (albeit not quite as firmly) on the prospect of its ownership of TWC. What's interesting - and perhaps telling - is the fact that not only have CHTR shares not soared in the wake of what would normally be viewed as good news, but Charter shares have actually stumbled heading into the possible bidding war. Might this be an omen of what's actually in store for Charter Communications?

Charter Communications (CHTR) and Comcast (CMCSA) are each also contemplating bids. The WSJ reported latetoday that Charter is arranging $25 billionin debt to fund its bid.

Getty Images The stream is about to turn into a gush. Streaming video-on-demand purveyors like Netflix (NFLX), Hulu and Amazon.com (AMZN) are set to open their wallets a lot wider for content. And where will that cash flow? For the most part, into the bank accounts of the content producers, specifically the Hollywood TV industry. The Fight for Eyeballs As everyone expected with the advance of streaming technology (and the bandwidth to accommodate it), video on demand has become one of the hottest items in entertainment. The evolution has been fast. Five years ago, Amazon's Prime was essentially just a subscription service that provided free two-day shipping of physical goods for its members. Since 2011, though, it's been an increasingly aggressive player in the streaming market. Amazon doesn't break down the figures it spends on streaming video; nevertheless, its "technology and content" expenses line item was $6.6 billion in the first nine months of this year. That was 41 percent higher than in the same period last year, and the amount comprised nearly 10 percent of the company's total net sales. According to an estimate from Bernstein Research, Amazon is set to spend $1.5 billion to $2 billion this year on streaming syndication and original content, which should balloon to more than $2.5 billion in 2015. It's in good company. Its two most prominent rivals, Netflix and Hulu -- a joint venture of units from Comcast (CMCSA), 21st Century Fox (FOX) and Disney (DIS) -- are also prepared to write big checks. According to Variety, an analysis from RBC Capital Markets estimates that the troika will spend a collective $6.8 billion on such content next year. That's a chunky 31 percent increase from the anticipated 2014 figure of $5.2 billion. That higher spend is going both to the original content that has proliferated on such channels (series like Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black"), films, and syndication rights for such broadcast TV series as "The Blackli

Still, Daktronics continues to see its high-visibility projects take shape. Just last week, the company delivered on two 26.5-foot LED video displays for Wembley Stadium in London. The huge amounts of money that Disney (NYSE: DIS ) , CBS (NYSE: CBS ) , and other sports-content delivery companies are spending for content have left sports-franchise owners with increasing amounts of revenue, supporting capital investments from owners and stadium operators to go toward state-of-the-art display equipment.
